Some of those who attended the opening night of the Gisborne Badminton Club in the Army Hall. The group includes about 30 new members, a fact which suggests that the club has a bright future ahead of it. Seated in the second row are the club captain, Mr W. Cummins, the president, Mr R. M. Sloan, and the secretary, Mr W. Coleman. The club plays three nights a week, and an ingenious roster system assures all present a variety of games during the evening, each in company with different players.

Mr Harry Parkin, who was first cook at the Baptist Easter Camp, with his assistant, Mrs W. Hodgson. They were assisted in the job of providing meals by Mr Hodgson.

The attraction of the Queen's Arch on Gladstone Road Bridge remains as strong as ever for young bloods with an eye for a practical joke. Local citizens were astonished on a recent morning to see a beer carton suspended from the arch, beneath the crown. Prank required arch to be scaled, and carton to be lowered through crown.
