Girls' High School Play

This year's production by the Girls' High School was of the usual high standard and ably produced by Miss M. Yates.

The choice of G.B. Shaw's 'Saint Joan' was a happy one as it shows him at his best. Dealing with incidents from the life of Joan of Arc, the play opens when, as a rough country girl, she seeks an audience with Squire de Baudricourt, and continues through to her trial and death. Most of Shaw's material for the play was drawn from the evidence brought before the court set up in 1920 to consider her canonization. Owing to the limited capacity of the school stage, the producer had to omit the Epilogue. Some of the scenes from the play are shown in these pics.
