Coloured lights, and massed arrangements of autumn-toned chrysanthemums, backed with foliage, transformed the main hall at Poho-o-Rawiri, which was the setting for this years' Anglican Debutante Ball.

The fourteen debutantes were presented to Canon T. V. Pearson by their mothers, and entered the hall to the music of Tchaikovsky's "Waltz of the Flowers", played by Mr Hollobon. After taking up their positions on the dais they made a graceful mass-curtsy. On leaving, they were met by their fathers, who formally introduced them to the Canon, and then escorted them to their partners. The debutantes' waltz was then danced, to the music of Schumann's "Melody".
