Soccer: Local Chatham Cup Final

Last month, the district final for New Zealand's most prized soccer trophy, the Chatham Cup, was played under ideal conditions. Eastern Union and Thistle were the two teams involved and they gave a really good display. They were evenly matched too. With the score at four goals each, and remaining so even after extra time, the decision went to Eastern Union on a corner kick.

The game was exciting and fast, with every player giving his best for nearly two hours of play. Each season, the game draws more enthusiasts and the consequential increase in supporters will enable the Association to make further improvements at Barry Park.
