The Selwyn Toogood Show

Probably the most popular show to visit Gisborne is the famous quiz show "It's in the Bag", with compere Selwyn Toogood. In two hours, the booking agents had sold every seat for two nights at eight shillings each. As a result four organisations received over £100 each. In a few weeks' time, the programme celebrates its tenth anniversary and is offering a new car as a prize.

Each night, well over 100 people wished to try their luck and consequently the eliminating questions seemed more difficult than many of the actual quiz questions. Even so, some good prizes were won and everyone enjoyed the show.
