Peace Shield Bowls
For the first time, a Wairoa rink won the Gisborne–East Coast Bowling Centre's Peace Shield tournament held early in January. L. Galbraith's rink defeated the Gisborne team skipped by C. Attewell, 26–24, in a final which produced some good bowling.
