In colder climates the winter always sees the migration to warmer climes of most of the bird life. In Nelson, as in other New Zealand parts, the winter means the shooting season, and the shooting season means a migration of ducks to the nearest sanctuary. In this case it was beautiful Queen's Gardens, where the ducks soon found there were many boys and girls keen to provide them with food.
