News From home

With this issue "Photo News" commences yet another new feature and we hope that it will be interesting to all our readers, but especially those overseas. We know that each month hundreds of copies of "Photo News" are sent overseas to relatives and friends. This page is to be devoted to them. Each month we will take photographs of families or parents of people overseas and include a little news for those folk far away. In return, we're hoping that those overseas will reciprocate (as they sometimes do) and send us a pic or two of their doings "over there". As well, we'd like those with folk or friends overseas to let us know about it. We'll take the pix Free of Charge and do the rest.

Greetings to Colin and Lyn Robinson, both of whom are working in Sydney. Here's the latest pic of mum and dad (Tom and Jackye) taken in their pebble garden at home in Stoke. Colin is in something of the same line as dad. He's working for Penfold Wines. Lyn is assistant manageress of a fruit juice bar. Both of them have been in Australia since last August. We'd like to hear from you, Colin and Lyn. How about a pic to let all your friends know how you look? Hm?

Here's a pic for Erin and Maureen Fox, both of whom are overseas. Erin, last we heard from her (thanks for the Christmas card, Erin) was heading in to Rhodesia from Mozambique and Swaziland. Maureen is teaching in London, and doing very well we hear. Hey, girls, have you heard about the new horse? That's him, Barnabas, with mum and dad (Ces and Betty), taken at the picnic races. You've heard about the new house being built, no doubt. Everybody's well and we hope you are too. How about a photo of you? Eh?

Who gave us the inspiration to commence this page? It was Elaine Smith, a daughter of Mr and Mrs Les Smith, of Tui Glen Road, Atawhai. Last November we received a lovely letter from Elaine telling us how much she enjoys the "Photo News" in Tanzania, East Africa. Thank you for the kind words, Elaine. Elaine, everybody, is a missionary with the Church Missionary Society and has been in Tanzania about two years and will be there at least another two years. She's working among women and youth groups there. Now, Elaine, something for you. You'll know everybody here, brother Jim, his fiancee, Margaret Bensemann, mum, grand-dad Jack Martin (he's loving those stamps), dad and sister Cynthia, home from Christchurch at the time. Regards to you from home and from us.
