Life Raft Instruction

The crew of the Titoki may never have the Misfortune to have to abandon their ship, but should such an occasion arise they will know how to cope with the situation and how to use the life rafts provided on their vessel. During the Titoki's survey, opportunity was taken to demonstrate to officers and crew the handling of the inflatable life rafts in a shed at the port. The demonstration was conducted by the Anchor Shipping Company's marine superintendent, Captain A. McNabb.

The life raft, which inflates automatically, is at top left. When collapsed it fits into the Container above. At left. Captain McNabb and some of the crew inside this ingenious raft (the containers are filled with provisions). Captain McNabb makes a point and demonstrates the lighting of a hand flare.
