A split second after taking the pic at top left, we ducked. And lucky we did, for the bearded Wild Von Neumann, propelled with great force by Joe Sokalsi, landed inches from us. This was one of the two pro bouts on recently. The other featured John Da Silva and Bruno Brekka. Both were entertaining bouts, with the main bout in the excellent category.

Nelson wrestler Ken Lucas gets a rub-down from Brian Cawte while Paul Kinghorn and Ian Vercoe look on. Cawte and Vercoe, from Marlborough, will compete in Australia later this year. Vercoe gained only a points win over Lucas. Cawte beat Kinghorn.
