Wakefield School 125th Jubilee

By-gone days were re-lived in a pageant held at the Wakefield School last month when the 125th anniversary of the school was celebrated, Children dressed in period costume and the Nelson Education Board marked the occasion by holding its monthly meeting at the school.

The aptors who appeared to have great fun re-living scenes depicting the early settlers of Wakefield.

Mr P. Gibbs, who was the earliest ex-pupil present, talking with Mrs Harriet Ricketts.

The organisers of the celebrations were Mrs Mary Hutcheson, "Buster" Stringer and Mr John Vessey.

Sitting on a comfortable patch of playground to watch the show are Jennifer Curson, Debbie Holcroft, Claire Simpson and Lynn Gordon.

Eileen Armstrong, Mary Johnson, Rene Dyce, Ruby Holmes, Alma Logan and Jesse Adams were six of the many people Who came to watch the celebrations.
