Porker and Baconer Competition

Record entries marked this year's porker and baconer contest conducted by the Nelson-Marlborough-West Coast section of the South Island District Pig Council. And what a lovely lot of pig there was on display. Feature of contest was that all three first awards went to members of Young Farmers' clubs - and all were in the Golden Bay district. The contest is a valuable one in that breeders have their pigs assessed by experts and can gather from points cards any deficiencies. Addresses on diseases and on breeding added interest and value to the contest.
