Guy Fawkes at Wakefield

Guys of all shapes and sizes, and many of them having little association with the gentleman of yesteryear, were paraded by lots of children at Wakefield. Many of the entries reflected the time and effort put into them. Undoubtedly the most original (we hereby award it the "Spoof of the Month" title) was Ian Illing. Ian, in collaboration with his friends, was carried to the display and dumped against the wall. There he awaited the judges. So perfect was his pose that he passed the first two inspections. But on the third, his breathing was noticed and judges Shirley Horrocks and Liza Washbourne (below) were tickled pink. That's Ian, as Guy (far left) and as himself (left).
