Miniature Show for Riding

Members of pony clubs throughout the Nelson province supported the miniature show run by the Wakatu branch of the Nelson Pony Club on the branch's headquarters at the airport last month Big entries in all classes, perfect weather and a firm surface helped ensure the complete success of the meeting.

Pony judges, Mrs E. Craven (Blenheim) and Mr Tom Beatson (Woodville) flank champion ponies, Susan Conza (Topsy) reserve, and Stephen Rowland (Tom Thumb), champ; Venetia Hill (Holly-Go-Likely) reserve, and Angela O' Brien (Nicky), champion; Marie O' Brien (Sean) reserve champion.

Champion hack, Gail Trinder (Richmond) on Nobility

The Martin girls, Gaye, Angela and Jackie, won the three-horse team event

Annette Hoad was placed third in the open hack jump

Gaye Martin takes the last jump in the jumping event for ponies up to 14.2 hands.

Vanya Way and her mount, Golden Folly, won the pony jump over 13.2 hands and up to 14.2 hands.

Gay Spirit, champion pony 13.2 hands to 14.2 hands, has a quiet doze while she and her rider, Michael Springer (Brightwater) are photographed.

Judy McKay on Candy took second place in the pony jump over 12.2 and up to 13.2 hands after a jump off for first place.
