Primary Schools Music Festival

This year's primary schools' music festival held in the assembly hall of Nelson College for Girls drew capacity audiences for the two concerts. Without a doubt, this year's concert, which included several numbers from a 120-piece orchestra, was the most ambitious and successful of the annual festivals, and the organisers, particularly Mr D. Jack, Department of Education Music Adviser, are to be congratulated. One of the outstanding items was the maypole dance performed by pupils of Nelson Central School. The intricate patterns they wove, and then unravelled without a mistake, were quite remarkable.
