Unusual Hobbies

The gleaming little sporty-looking car over which Ian Reynolds is bending so lovingly (at left) hasn't always looked like this. When Ian got it in 1965 it looked most forlorn and, in fact, ready for the scrap heap (below). But Ian loves this little car, a 1936 Austin Nippy, a most unusual model. It was once owned by his father John, who sold it in 1957. From that time until it returned to the bosom of the Reynolds family, the Nippy suffered mightily and it has taken Ian and his friend, Evan Moorhouse, nearly two years to restore (rebuild is a better word) her Many parts had to be made and the car was stripped and built up from the chassis Now she's nearly ready for the road. That is Evan at the back of the Nippy.

The bottom pic is of a well-known holiday vehicle in Nelson, an old Buick hearse, also going to be restored by Ian and friends.
