Basketball Wind-up at Stoke

The indoor basketball season conducted by the Y.M.C.A. in Stoke was a fitting climax to another very successful season. Young players of every shape and size turned out for the knock-out tourney and the thrill of the night was the game between officials and players (won by the officials, of course). A good supper and presentation of prizes completed, a great night and the season.

Waimea College A, senior boys' winners Back, Rick Denver (capt), Nick Doone, Kevin Bethwaite, Glen Beattie; front, Lloyd Granger, Paul Granger

Leftovers, girls' B grade winners. Back, Sharlene Davis-Goff, Jillian Eyles, Mary Kane, Helen Goodman; front, Susan Jury, Suzanne Watson.

Mrs Leila Watson is being woman-handled in a most unbasketball-like fashion.

Boys' A grade reserve winners (Peanut Butter Conspiracy): Lindsay Powell, Grahame Edridge, Leslie Holland, Warren Goff, John Cronin.

Phoenix, boys' B grade: Jonathan Marwick, Murray Malone, Warren Wiggins, Peter Duncan.

Beach Bunnies, girls' A reserve: Gaye Rogers, Denise Oliver, Jocelyn Stevenson, Robyn Harley, Shirley de Nicolo.

The Rogues, boys' C grade: David Bryan, Phillip Robson (capt), Robert Freeman, Grant Longley.

This villainous crew did battle (and very successfully too), with the players - Joyce White, "Pat" and Marie Patterson, Barbara Harvey, Leila Watson and Bettv Edrich.
