When Mr Jim Russ, of Appleby, bought this old Hudson bomber for $100 at the end of the Second World War, it was completely operational and had, in fact, had very few flying hours logged against it. He wanted the heavy-duty tyres for a farm trailer and although other components have been used since, the biggest part of the old girl is still intact, though surrounded with farmyard paraphernalia.


Cubs and Scouts in the Motueka district worked hard during their "good turn week". At left, Paul Tonks and Peter James (St. Thomas's Cub Pack) deliver pine cones to elderly people, and below, Cubs from the Tasman pack gather rubbish left on the golden sands of Kaiteriteri Beach.
