Westport Golfer Wins Ladies' Title
Nearly 80 golfers, including a strong contingent from the Miramar Club, competed in this year's Nelson provincial ladies' match play championships. And as if the game isn't hard enough, the elements took a hand and competitors also had to contend with near-gale force winds and heavy rain which produced water hazards all round the waterlogged course. This year's title winner was Mrs Jean Jones, of Westport, who beat Mrs Gwen Crossman, 7 and 5, in the final.
