New Fisheries Vessel Launched

The all-steel fisheries research launch Tirohia, built by Dorman Engineering for Victoria University, was launched at Port Nelson last month. The 43ft vessel will be registered at Wellington, but she will be a frequent visitor to Nelson for the university's research of fishing waters will bring her often into Nelson territory. As research aids, special electronic detecting equipment has been installed and the appointments of the craft will make for easy handling and living.
