Very recently the Nelson City Council sent the Mayor (Mr Strawbridge), the Public Relations Officer (Mr Sean O'Hagan) and the chairman of the Nelson Civic Hall Committee (Mr Brian Mills) on a tour of inspection of civic halls in North Island centres. Their report was due to be considered at the council's November meeting. We had heard that two of the halls seen by this inspection team were those at Wanganui (left) and the Sportsdrome, with conference hall attached, at Rotorua (above), and to give our readers some idea of what has been accomplished in these centres we asked our counterparts in Wanganui and Rotorua to supply us with some pictures. We reproduce these on these two pages.
