Wellington-Nelson Basketball

Wellington proved too strong for Nelson when the two provinces met in men's and women's indoor basketball matches in Nelson recently. In the women's game Wellington established an early lead and never lost it although the margin was reduced to within a few points at times. The reverse was the case in the men's game, Nelson establishing an early lead but losing it half-way through the second spell when Wellington added three field goals in very quick time to give it a commanding lead. Nelson women lost 34-44 and Nelson men lost 49-56.
