We doubt very much if there is so much as the smallest hamlet in New Zealand which does not, practically every Saturday, have volunteers slogging away on a working bee. In Nelson we're certain that is the case. Take a typical Saturday morning. Above we found the Jaycees approaching the last lap in their landscaping project at the grounds of the Intellectually Handicapped Children's workshop and below, members of the Nelson Racing Club, preparing a new training surface for horses at the race track at Richmond.
