The new assembly hall at the Nelson College for Girls was completed last month. When this picture was taken, the last few finishing touches were being applied inside. The building will be officially opened in February. Within a stone's throw of the new hall, workmen were busy demolishing part of the old hostel block (above). It is hoped to make a start on a new block of classrooms on this site early next year,

Washington Road, which has been the centre of a lot of building activity recently, is being reconstructed, The narrow road is being widened and provided with footpaths.
