"Old Soldiers never die", so the saying goes, and although quite a lot have faded away since last year, there were still 140 delegates to attend the annual conference of the South African War Veterans' Association in Nelson. No youngsters in this lot, either. The youngest was 76, the oldest 90. In above group average age is 84½. They are from left Messrs R. W. Evans (levin), H. Draper (Auckland), G. A. Evans (Hastings), W. Little (Wanganui), J. Martin (Christchurch) and W. B. Bradshaw (Whangarei), the oldest delegate at 90. The Evans's are brothers.

Messrs C. Stallard (Auckland) and J. Stevens (Dunedin) met for first time in 25 years. Mr Stallard's son married Mr Stevens's daughter.
