Thrills Under The Big Top

Children love a circus and the children of Nelson province proved this by rolling up in their thousands to see the acts put on under the big top of Sole Bros and Wirths circus which visited us last month. And the enjoyment derived from the circus was not confined to the children, either. While taking the pics in the following pages we noticed that the adults present were as deeply engrossed in the acts as the children. And well they might be. Elephants, lions, monkeys, baboons, horses and trained dogs were all put through their paces, and the clowns, trapeze artists and those performing balancing acts added to the attractions. Since there must have been many thousands of children who did not have the opportunity of visiting the circus, we've printed four pages of pictures of some of the acts to show them just what happened under the big top.
