Winter Trots

Cold though it was, the annual winter meeting of the Nelson Trotting Club drew reasonable crowds and big fields to Richmond Park. On the first day, the Saturday, lucky punters had a double of £633 to collect and there were some big divs. Quite a number of alterations have been made to the park, the most important, from announcer Jack O'Donnell's viewpoint, being the provision of a new announcer's box much closer to the finish line. Another innovation this year was a series of heats in the Maiden class with a final being run on the second day.
