The Chilten Hundreds"

×

Dashed awkward, y'know, having a butler who's also your M. P. living in the house. At least we think those were the sentiments of the Earl of Lister (Philip Benham) and his son, an aspiring M.P., Lord Pym (David Perrott), when their butler Beech-am (Laurie Staig) entered the lists and beat Lord Pym in a two-sided contest. This, and many other incidents in the life of the Earl's household, provided theatregoers in Nelson with some fine comedy when the Repertory Society presented "The Chiltern Hundreds" last month. Above is the cast: Lord Pym, June Farrell, his fiancee (Glenda Richards), Earl of Lister, Countess of Lister (Evelyn Adam), Lady Caroline Smith (Val Robbie), Mr Cleghorn (Ron Parkin), Bessie the maid (Kathleen Ballingall) and Beecham.
