Fish Food Flown To Lake Rotoroa

About 40,000 freshwater smelt from Rotorua were dropped from an aircraft over Lake Rotoroa last month as a source of food for rainbow trout. News of the air-drop brought a large crowd to this picturesque spot and it was completed without incident. Equal numbers, held in four tanks under the wings of the aircraft, were dropped at each end of the lake and, as far as could be established, the mortality rate was negligible.
