It has been said that much depends on the availability of inward shipping- from England to Nelson, and on the wharfage rates charged by the Harbour Board, if the Standard-Triumph company is to take over the cotton mill buildings. Port Nelson handles a great deal of overseas shipping during the year - 36 vessels for the last financial year and 44 the previous year - and it has the facilities to handle the cargo. Wharfage fees are another thing, however, but the Harbour Board may resolve this problem with an offer to the company.
