The many years of service given to the Nelson R.S.A. and to Nelson by Messrs D'Arcy Blair and Ken Strange were recognised recently when each was awarded the national association's certificate of merit and "M" badge. Mr Blair (above) receives his award as does Mr Strange (top right) from Mr W. Hamilton Mitchell, Dominion president of the association.

Cricketers stand round and inspect a damp patch where the rain had penetrated the covers during the Hawke Cup match between Nelson and Rangitikei. Nelson successfully resisted its 22nd challenge for the trophy. Shortly after the pic below was taken, it rained cats and dogs again and the covers were replaced. When the sun shone once more there were plenty of willing hands to help with the covers (right).
