One that didn't get away - a bronze whaler shark landed by Mr Noel Russ after quite a tussle in tha Blind Channel. It was 7ft 7in long and weighed 2501b.

Two young Christchurch visitors to Nelson were lucky to escape serious injury when this 1936 Ford V8 got out of control in Tasman Street. The car smashed down a steel and wire safety fence before dropping about 9ft into the Brook Stream where it came to rest upside down.

Welcome additions to the overhead lighting at Bridge Street east. These more powerful lights certainly help visibility at the Tasman and Milton streets intersections.

Bill Miller (Hutt), Neil Senior, Robert Miller and David Trathen about to leave Nelson by aircraft for Karamea to walk the Heaphy Track. They did it too, amidst pouring rain.
