"The House By the Lake"

It's a thriller; and by that we mean that "The House by the Lake" is going to really give you a chill thrill. This is Nelson Repertory's latest production and it is one with a difference. A murder is committed very early in the play and everyone, audience and cast, knows who does it. Then the thrills really start. That's all we're going to tell you. The play is produced by Rene Cotton and will open in the Theatre Royal on November 9 for a week.

Maurice (Howard Mathison) and his sister Stella (Jean Ryder) look down at Colin Holt (George Ching) whom Stella has just murdered.

Janet (Addison Collyns) fights with Mr Howard (Dave Jackson) for possession of a gun with which she intended to shoot herself.

While Iris (Kathleen Bartle) sits despairingly on the couch after confessing to the murder of her husband, District Nurse Thompson (Lyn Rees) gives Mr Howard some news.

Maurice, a de-registered doctor, hypnotises his wife Janet

Colin shapes to hit his wife while Stella, a disgusted Maurice and Janet look on

A cigarette-lighter handed to Janet by maid Brenda (Cecil Coote) tells Janet of events after the murder.

Howard is not interested in the offer of Colonel Forbes (Phil Benham) to have him reinstated as a doctor
