S. Island Men's Basketball
Otago, with its forceful court play and extremely accurate shooting, proved too sound a combination for Nelson when these teams contested the final of the South Island men's basketball championships at Nelson. Earlier in the tournament, Nelson showed spark-ling form to beat the strong Canterbury team 73-51, but it could not reproduce this form against Otago, who won 74-52.
