This monstrous vehicle is not a truck with a trailer. It is all one unit, and is as big as any operating in the Dominion. The contracting firm of R. A. McLennan Ltd, which operates it in Nelson, was faced with the problem of either having to buy six new vehicles or two big ones. It decided on two big ones. The other is on the way. It can carry three times as much as a single axle truck, has only one operator and does 3½ miles to the gallon. And what a transmission - 20 forward gears and four reverse. It is seen here spreading base coarse metal on the Neudorf Hill for the Wai-mea County Council.

Since our last issue Hay's Corner has undergone a transformation. All the trees surrounding the triangular section have been cut down preparatory to sub-dividing the land into about 30 sections.
