Limestone Caves at Patarau

×

Takaka country is rich in minerals of many kinds and as well is the happy hunting ground for the Nelson Speliological Group. Limestone caves are in abundance here, and new ones are being discovered quite regularly. One such contains this magnificent shawl formation of stalagtite - considered one of the outstanding in New Zealand. Inspecting it here are Judy Kershaw and Carol Don.
