Sails Aloft

Both the Aurora and Pohara sailing clubs were fortunate to strike a fine day for their openings, and in each case the wind was available. At Pohara, however, there was a little too much wind and some yachties had masts, booms, and rudders shattered by the boisterous conditions. The season in Nelson should be an excellent one. The national Finn championships are to be held here in February (during the visit of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh), so yachtsmen should be well catered for this summer.
