One morning recently, listeners to Station 2Xn heard with surprise that announcer John Blumsky was conducting the breakfast session from the top of Fringed Hill – 2603ft above Nelson. This was an answer to a challenge by 2Zb breakfast announcer, Mr B. Tubot, who claimed an altitude record for his broadcast 648ft above Wellington. Unfortunately for John, this lofty perch was fog-bound and he could see nothing of the glorious view below him.
