Keeping Fit

Not long ago, well-known athletics coach, Arthur Lydiard, told New Zealanders that we could add years to our lives by keeping fit. He directed this particularly at men and women who had played vigorous sport and then given it up with an increase in years. In Nelson, at the college gym, many men and women are keeping their bodies in good physical trim. We called in one evening to see the three classes working - women, fit men, and businessmen. These are some of the pix we got.

The younger men who are really physically fit through playing sport, are not spared and their training is strenuous but the businessmen's class is a little less rigorous. At the conclusion of group exercises they get a lot of fun and exercise out of padderminton and the trampoline.
