Rugby Personalities

Rugby players of yesteryear are remembered each year on the day the Town-Country match is played, when the Rugby union invites all old reps to partake of union hospitality at an after-match function. Here we found many old Nelson rugger personalities, men who in former years were as well known for their prowess on the football field as today's players.

Five of the original 1922 Nelson team which brought the Seddon Shield to Nelson for the first time were present - Honk White, Jack Wallace, Noel Watson, Ted Langbein, and Tom Mahoney,
