The Plunket Society's work was depicted in this float which accompanied pipe band, marching girls,and Plunket stork through the city one Friday evening. The society is at present holding a raffle, the prizes for which are held by the stork (right).

The Downbeats, Nelson's newest pop band, gave a demonstration of its musical skill in Beggs one Friday night. The band, all of whom were students at Kelson College when it was formed, has an average age of 16. From left, Phillip Pilbrow, Denis Rae, Brian Peacock, Richard Le Fort and Gary Stewart.
