Fathers to the Fore
This year's race for the title of Father of the Takapuna Fleet, will probably go down in history. There were big fathers, little yachts, light breeze and strong incoming tide, and this combination provided tremendous merriment for critical onlookers as skill proved useless against the strong tide. At times yachts made one yard and lost 10 and towards the finish several didn't move off a spot for upwards of 10 minutes. Bill Scott crossed the line first but was disqualified, first award going to Jarvis Gould.
