A popular resident at the Manuka Street Hospital is Mrs Alice Wray, who recently celebrated her 90th birthday. Mrs Wray comes from Lancashire (near where Grade Fields comes from) and has been in Nelson for 18 years. Despite her age, Mrs Wray is skilled at crocheting and also writes her own letters

From Australia we hear news of Warren Aston, who has been serving as a missionary for the Latter Day Saints' Church in Sydney. Warren, from Nelson, is a keen reader of "Photo News" and with a bit of luck he'll also encourage that kangaroo to subscribe. Warren returns to Nelson in September
