75 Years Rugby Celebrated
For the Waimea Old Boys' Rugby Football Club, Labour Weekend, 1971, held a special significance, for it was during that time that the club celebrated its 75th anniversary. Two of the more important events held during the celebrations were a Past v. Present match, and a cabaret at Redwoods Hall.
Among the old-timers at the anniversary were Stan Sutton (1917), Bill Cook (1923), Rod O'Connor (1935), Pat O'Connor (1936), Cyril Watson (1920), Mac Stevens (1921) and Ken Beach (1921)
It was hard to tell who were Past and who were Present players but there were several fine runs, like this one here, from both sides
And there were some injuries
Enjoying the rugby were Ken and Mrs Beach, Mrs C. Watson and Mr M. J. McGlashen
