And the Orchestra Played on
Not having a music adviser in Nelson did not stop a bunch of keen tutors from holding the annual holiday youth orchestra at Nayland College during the school holidays. The orchestra has been going for five years but this year, the first without an adviser, was a success because of the dedication of the tutors, some of whom were once in the orchestra.
The tutors who ran the orchestra were Warren Wiggins (viola), Barry Benbow (brass), Richard Percival (clarinet), Peter Clark (second violin), Roy Carew (recorder), Ralph Clulow (recorder), Kathleen Hughes (cello), Les Whyte (brass), Elizabeth Ditzel (third violin), Ans Spaak (at piano), was co-ordinator and conductor, Doug Monks (administrator), Mary Allison (first violin), Heather McLeod (flute), Beverley Thompson (clarinet), George Chapman-Cohen (conductor and percussion) and Bruce Macaulay (percussion and brass)
Les Whyte throws everything into it as he guides the brass section. Nearest are David Page and Stephen Wiggins
Recorder tutor Roy Carew assists Anne Price and Christine Mesman
"Now!" says Doug Monks, and Freda Spaak carries out the order

Why delve into the superfluity of words to describe the expressions of these musicians.
"Concentration" is an adequate title for all.
