Outstanding Success for "Oklahoma"

Never before in the history of the Nelson Operatic Society has one of its productions met with the acclaim accorded "Oklahoma!" When bookings for the nine scheduled performances were opened there was the unprecedented sight of a queue twenty-five yards long, and very early in the week the box plans were all filled. The season was extended another night and this was sold out quickly. Hundreds of people missed the show because no further extension was possible as the theatre was not available. In all, counting the charity performance, the society played 11 times. The pictures on this page were taken during the charity performance, the organisation of which was in Rotary's hands.

In our preview of "Oklahoma!" in our last issue, there were several pictures we were unable to get, for one reason or another. Lesley Blair, the "Dream Laurey", was out of town at the time, and since her dancing gave so much pleasure to all, we felt we would have to reproduce two of the most dramatic moments of the dance.
