Gruelling Race won in Fast Time

The Nelson Harrier Club's annual Motueka-Nelson road race was a fairly one-sided affair with the Christchurch Anglican team winning fay a mile. But there was still lots of excitement, mostly from the viewpoint of lap times. Two runners, A. Bayard (Anglican) and D. Coad (Nelson) broke lap records, Bayard by the big margin of 1 min 22 sec. It was his second lap run that gave Anglican its big lead. This year's race drew entries from Christchurch (four teams), Marlborough, Motueka and Nelson (two teams). Anglican covered the 35.3 mile course in 3hr. 15min. 15sec.
