Nelson has lost an excellent Public Relations Officer in Mr John Wheeler, who has been appointed public relations officer and personnel manager at the new cotton mill, but we have been indeed fortunate in securing the services of Mr Sean O'Hagan as his successor. Mr O'Hagan will officially take over his new post on November 1. Here he is congratulated by Mr Wheeler after news of his appointment had come through.

While giving an address to cricket enthusiasts in Nelson, New Zealand's cricket captain, John Reid, took time off to present to Geoff Haase, this autographed bat. He won it as the most improved batsman in the Ramblers squad last year.

Golden Wedding
Mr and Mrs Fred Poole, 16 George Street, Richmond, celebrated their golden wedding last month. It was nearly a double celebration, for Mrs Poole, a month earlier, had her 90th birthday. Mr Poole was well-known in the Nelson district as a teacher for 40 years.
