Motor Cycle Scramble

The very skilful and daring riding of Christchurch motor-cyclist Graham Stapleton kept him way out in front in the 250 c.c. and 350 c.c. classes of the South Island Gold Star scramble series. At Nelson, Stapleton won 10 of the 12 races to put himself into an almost unbeatable position in these two classes. We got this fine action shot of Stapleton (Left) as he flung his machine over a rise on the Brook Street course. Above - Roger Austin (Ashburton) in second place in the 500 c.c. class, leads Paul Doecke (Christchurch) into a bend.
