Molly Jones and Agnes Tull are looking to your confectionery, cake and bread needs at the Anne Maree, at Stoke. The business belongs to Agnes, who with her husband and three boys came to Nelson from Riverton, two months ago. Knitting, music, singing (in competitions), and travelling are Agnes's main hobbies. Molly is married, has a boy and a girl, and helps out in the shop. Boating, travel, reading and playing the piano are Molly's favourite leisure-time pursuits.

A couple of Mastercut men, Ian McWhinnie and Dan Moore (proprietor of Moore's Butchery, Stoke). Ian is married, has three girls (they were weaned on a bagpipe and did their teething on a drum stick), and came to Nelson 10 years ago from Blenheim. His big interest is the Richmond and Districts Highland Pipe Band, of which he is a drummer. He also does a little gliding now and again. Dan is married, has three children and has been a butcher for 40 years, coming to Nelson from Christchurch 15 years ago. His main interests are caravaning, boating and fishing and bowls.

A couple of wreckers (not home, cars), Ted Sixtus and Vince Inwood, owners of Superior Spares, Stoke. Ted is married, lives at Appleby and has a son. He works almost seven days a week, but if he had the time he'd do some shooting. Vince is married, has two girls (and an addition expected by Christmas). Like Ted, he works long hours, but would like to row and fish if he had the time.
